  25.   CATVids is a quick, efficient, easy-to-use program for 
  26.   organizing your video collection.
  27.  
  28.   With CATVids you can register and look up information about 
  29.   such things as: 
  30.  
  31.   - title, format, type of content, category, length,
  32.   - production year, release year, company, country of origin
  33.   - director and actors,
  34.   - sound, rating, tape counter, location,
  35.   - purchase price and current value.
  36.  
  37.   You can add personal comments for every item. Thirteen special 
  38.   fields enable you to customize your catalog. You can even store 
  39.   a bitmap picture (for example of the cover).

  43. Distribution

  45. CATVids is distributed as shareware. This means you are 
  46. welcome to give copies of CATVids to your friends and 
  47. colleagues. For a list of files that need to be distributed, 
  48. please see VENDINFO.DIZ. Do not, under any circumstances, 
  49. distribute CATVIDS.MEM. This file contains the serial number, 
  50. and with this information we can trace the copy back to you. 
  51. When CATVIDS.MEM is not present, CATVids runs as an 
  52. unregistered shareware version.

  56. Installation
  57.  
  58. NOTE!
  59.   If you downloaded this package from the Internet, please 
  60.   read this paragraph very carefully: A file called 
  61.   VBRUN300.DLL needs to be installed on your computer before
  62.   SETUP is run. To save space, this file was not included 
  63.   in this package. Please check your SYSTEM directory 
  64.   (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM) to see if you already have this
  65.   file (this is very likely). If not then download, unzip and 
  66.   copy the file to the SYSTEM directory. It is very important
  67.   that you do this before SETUP is run!

  80. To install CATVids, follow these steps:

  82. From Diskette
  83.  
  84.   1. Insert diskette number 1 into your diskette drive.
  85.   
  86.   2. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1, from the Program 
  87.      Manager File menu choose Run.
  88.      
  89.      If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, from the Start 
  90.      menu choose Run.
  91.  
  92.   3. In the text box, type the path to the installation program, 
  93.      for example A:\SETUP, and choose OK.
  94.  
  95.   4. When requested, specify the directory where you want to 
  96.      install CATVids. Unless you specify a different directory 
  97.      the application will be installed in C:\CATVIDS.
  98.  
  99.   5. Choose OK to start the installation process.

  101. From Hard Disk
  102.  
  103.   1. Ensure that all CATVids installation files are in the 
  104.      same directory, for example C:\CATTEMP.
  105.  
  106.   2. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1, from the Program 
  107.      Manager File menu choose Run.
  108.  
  109.      If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, from the Start 
  110.      menu choose Run.
  111.  
  112.   3. In the text box, type the name of the drive and directory 
  113.      where the installation files are located, then type \SETUP 
  114.      (for example C:\CATTEMP\SETUP) and choose OK.
  115.  
  116.   4. When requested, specify the directory where you want to 
  117.      install CATVids. Unless you specify a different directory 
  118.      the application will be installed in C:\CATVIDS.
  119.  
  120.   5. Choose OK to start the installation process. 
  121.  
  122. If you have any problems with the installation, you may
  123. install files manually by following this procedure:
  124.  
  125.   1. Start a "DOS-window" (In Program Manager double-click 
  126.      on the MS-DOS icon).
  127.   2. What you type at the DOS prompt depends on the file
  128.      you want to install. For example, if you want to install
  129.      THREED.VBX, follow these steps:
  130.  
  131.      - Insert the correct diskette (in this case diskette
  132.        no. 1) into you diskette drive.
  133.     
  134.      - Type this command (you may need to substitute A for
  135.        the letter of your diskette drive, for example B)
  136.       
  137.          EXPAND A:\THREED.VB_ C:\CATVIDS\THREED.VBX  <Enter>
  138.  
  139.        THREED.VBX is unpacked and copied to the program
  140.        directory.
  141.  
  142.      Normally, files with the extension VBX or DLL should be 
  143.      installed in the SYSTEM directory (usually 
  144.      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM). Do not copy files to this directory 
  145.      yourself. If, however, you do, please make a copy of the 
  146.      original file first. You might overwrite a newer version, 
  147.      and as a result some other application might not work.
